What is hemp?

Hemp is an all-natural fiber that comes from the plant Cannabis sativa. It has been grown for at least 10,000 years all over the world. Unlike its close cousin, marijuana, it is not a drug, although it often gets mistakenly labeled as one. Today, the world is rediscovering hemp and it’s innumerable uses. Up until the last 60-70 years hemp was one of the most valuable crops in production. Hemp industries are finding and creating uses for hemp all the time.

Why is hemp fabric better than cotton and other fabrics?

The hemp plant yields extremely long fibers, which produce a fabric that is much stronger and more versatile than other fabrics. Hemp also breathes and wicks moisture better than cotton. Hemp fiber is an efficient insulator keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer. It is also highly regarded for UV protection.

Is hemp clothing comfortable?

Our hemp/cotton blend clothing with 55% hemp and 45% cotton gives the fabric a soft, wearable feel. While our soft, colourfast clothing is wearable and comfortable right off the shelf. Our hemp/cotton naturals are garment dyed yet non-bleeding. They have the effect of getting even softer with washing. Blending hemp with other fabrics makes it much more suitable for every day use. Particularly comfortable are our stretch t-shirts and functional tank tops blended with 3% spandex.

How does growing hemp affect the environment?
